Welcome to my Art Blog, “Letters from Adele….with brush and keyboard”. Two of my favorite things are painting and writing. So here goes! Thanks for joining me.

This gate is part of the beautiful Tharri Monastery on Rhodes, in Greece. I chose it to be my first painting of the challenge. 12″ x 12″ oil on museum quality panel.
An artist I admire and call “my mentor” has issued a challenge to all her fellow artist friends: Complete one painting per day for every day of the month of September. That’s 30 paintings in 30 days! Wow! I gave it a lot of thought, but finally realized this challenge was exactly what I need at this time. I find sketching (pencil, charcoal,or ink) all very easy to keep loose and light. My hope is by challenging myself to paint rapidly and daily I will develop the same freedom with my oils.
My Challenge theme is “Vacationing in the Greek Isles”. My reference will be photos taken by our eldest Granddaughter and her husband on their recent vacation in Rhodes.
Here’s my plan: At the end of each week I’ll post my 7 paintings of the week….right here on this blog. I will also post them on a “30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge” page of my website, http://www.artbyadelebower.com.
Meanwhile, the painting above, “Gate at Tharri Monastery-Rhodes” is posted. I can’t honestly call it part of the Challenge because I painted it last week.
See you soon,
Adele Bower
WOW,There are no words to describe how very lovely you are as well as the love you give to others, I don’t have an artistic bone in my body, but it is a pleasure to see beauty that you create.with your own hands..Thanks for sharing your GIFTS with us ladies.
Hugs Pamela.
Thank you so much, Pamela. You are too nice for saying just wonderful things about me. Stay as sweet and fantastic as you are.
Becky, I’m happy I look organized. (So funny if you could see my studio/workroom.) Oh!..you mean my paintings. Thanks. My “Feline Assistants” job description: Phase 1-Find the best place in the studio to sleep. Wake up in time to stare at Mama until she feeds us. If ignored, begin Phase 2- Climb on the top of bookcases, wall racks, across the drawing board..and don’t forget to shed fur. Phase 3-Eat.
You are so very organized in your process, and I enjoyed learning about it. Also, I love your whimsical attitude, your use of brilliant color, and your use of feline assistants when needed!
Great job! 🙂
You are motivated, and I look forward to your uplifting talent, Adele!
Gloria
Thank you, Gloria. I’m having a good time and learning so much.
Adele: We know you can do it. The paintings will be beautiful.
You have encouraged me. Thanks, Byron and Jackie.
I came by the other day to see your blog and I love your page. I know that you can do 30 paintings in 30 days..as far as I’m concerned, you can do anything! And I can’t wait. 🙂
Thanks, Becky. You inspire me with your confidence in me. 🙂 Or do you scare me? Hmmm!
Adele, I love your work and look forward to what you are going to do. I love to see the fun in the art, it truly comes thru. I see your personality and it makes me smile.
Hi Mary Jane, Thanks for signing up to “follow” my art blog. I hope you enjoy seeing me attempt something I’ve NEVER done before….do a painting in one day. Oops! I have done paintings in one day, but never for 30 days in a row.
As ususl Adele, you’ve outdone yourself! Beautiful..can’t wait to see what’s next..
Gee thanks, Marie. You might not say that by the end of September IF I don’t complete 30 paintings. But I’ve committed myself…with lots of witnesses. It’ll be fun.
Wow! Enjoy the ride!
Thanks, Joyce. I’ll try to hold on to the ride.
Thanks, Joyce. It’ll be quite a ride, but I need the motivation.
Thanks, Karen. Thirty paintings in 30 days will be a BIG challenge, but I look forward to it. .
Loved the beautiful painting of the gate at the Monastery in Rhodes. I look forward to seeing 7 new pieces of artwork soon. I know you will rise beautifully to this “30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge”. I love you mom!
